Its now been a couple of weeks since your son/daughter has joined a martial arts school. You want them to learn the skill, get exercise and have fun doing it. How do I repeat the process at home? Easy REPEAT THE PROCESS! Learning or doing drills with mom & dad can be fun and educational for both parent and child. Best approach is to let the child take the lead, let them decide the workout or what form/kata to do, switch holding a pad. The time frame doesn’t have to be an hour. They may want to stop and do something else after 10 minutes, that’s ok, as long as you are engaging the idea and taking action. Let them teach you, a form, a drill, a weapon – kids love to take the lead and show mom and dad hey have some kinda handle on information (also slightly gratifying for them to have something over you). Enjoy your time together.
